Wikipedia describes an artist as someone who

“uses imagination, talent, or skill to create works that may be judged to have an aesthetic value”.

Though this term could be used in a broad sense, at Indie Sponsor we’ll limit it to the visual, literary, and performing arts.

Throughout history, artists in all 3 categories have had patrons, or “sponsors” who financed their careers.

In the beginning…

Artists were considered skilled laborers, like brick masons and carpenters. But the Renaissance changed all that. During the 15th Century, businesses flourished and opened up more revenue streams for artists of all kinds, elevating them beyond just skilled laborers.

Today with the birth of the digital revolution

we’re entering a new Renaissance. The opportunities for artists have never been better. But with so much competition, it’s the artists who learn to be entrepreneurs and create their own opportunities that will rise to the top and reap huge rewards.

Never before have we had so many small and large businesses who could be potential sponsors for artists of all kinds. At Indie Sponsor we intend to bridge the gap between art and business. Our goal is to put an end to the starving artist mentality and teach artists how to run their careers like a business.

Hey, businesses—it makes good financial sense to partner with the arts!

Most large corporations already know that and have signed on to social responsibility in that area. But there are over 28 million small businesses who are hungry to play with the big boys and compete with their own sponsorship. That’s where we come in.

Indie Sponsor is the liaison between the artist and the sponsoring corporation

At Indie Sponsor we’re the liaison between the artist who creates a great, unique opportunity and corporations, big and small, who would be happy to sponsor them and become their collaborators and financial partners.

Sponsorship is a multi-billion dollar industry that keeps growing every year, no matter what the economy looks like. We want artists to get their share of that rapidly growing pie and stand on their own as working artists.

The job of an artist is unlike any other profession

Quite often it’s either feast or famine. But that isn’t enough to stop the creative type, who simply must create to feed their soul. We just want you to feed yourselves at the same time.

We believe you can never have too much art. After all, art simply makes the world a better place for everyone.
